Our visit to Plant World at St. Marychurch Road, Newton Abbott, South Devon on the 14th August was accompanied by light drizzle on the outward journey but fortunately the rained stayed away on our journey through the garden where we were amazed at the complexity of the layout and the wide variety of plants which are layed out in different areas - Hot Garden, Cottage Garden, Mediterranean Garden, Bog Garden, European Garden, Siberian Garden, Himalayan Garden, New Zealand Garden, Australian Garden, African Garden, American Garden.. Many of us purchased plants from the well stocked and reasonably priced Plant Centre and we were impressed by many of the unusual plants on offer.

We ended the day with a trip to Orchid Paradise at Burnham Nurseries, Forches Cross, Newton Abbott to see an amazing range of Orchids on display and for sale and a further visit to a plant Centre nearby where many more plants were purchased.
The following slide show will give you some idea of the gardens and the many winding paths at Plant World, which was layed out on a north facing slope, from 1986 onwards.
